 An RAF Rivet Joint RC-135W signals intelligence aircraft taking off from RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire.The RC-135W Rivet Joint is a large, all-weather electronic surveillance aircraft based on the C-135 airframe.The Royal Air Force has purchased three RC-135 Rivet Joint aircraft, currently being converted from KC-135R Stratotanker airframes to RC-135W standard at the L3 Communications facility in Greenville, Texas. The first aircraft is due for delivery in late 2013, with the final delivery expected in 2017.A programme of continual upgrades has kept the USAF RC-135 fleet at the cutting edge of technology and relevant capability. The three RAF aircraft will continue to benefit from the upgrade programme in turn with USAF aircraft.The RC-135W Rivet Joint is equipped with a variety of sensors, allowing its multi- disciplined crew to intercept and exploit emissions across the electromagnetic spectrum, providing both strategic and tactical level intelligence.

 The future USS Shenandoah (ZR-1) newly completed, in a photo dated 25 August 1923. She  was the first of four United States Navy rigid airships. It was constructed during 1922–1923 at Lakehurst Naval Air Station, and first flew in 1923. It developed the U.S. Navy's experience with rigid airships and made the first crossing of North America by airship.

 The Dornier Do X was the largest, heaviest, and most powerful flying boat in the world when it was produced by the Dornier company of Germany in 1929. First conceived by Claude Dornier in 1924, planning started in late 1925 and after over 240,000 work-hours it was completed in June 1929.

The Fairey Firefly is a Second World War-era carrier-borne fighter aircraft and anti-submarine aircraft that was principally operated by the Fleet Air Arm. 



Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota.

Minot AFB is the only dual-wing nuclear capable base in the Air Force. The host unit, the 5th Bomb Wing, is one of two B-52H Stratofortress bomber bases in the Air Force. The base’s 91st Missile Wing is one of the Air Force’s three operational missile units. The 91st Missile Wing operates, maintains, and secures a fleet of Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles.

HMS Queen Elizabeth.

On 24th November the USMC jets flew off HMS Queen Elizabeth to Naval Station, Rota in Spain, their first stop on their return to their home base at MACS Yuma in Arizona. The deployment of US aircraft on the British carrier has been an outstanding success and likely to be repeated again in future. The carrier subsequently made her final port visit of the deployment in Rota to offload USMC personnel and equipment.
