Harrier demonstrated At Brazilian Air Force base, Santa Cruz, Rio de Janeiro. The building is a hangar from the Zepellin era and it's still in use. The Hawker Siddeney/British Aerospace Harrier, informally known as the 'Jump Jet', was one fixed wing aircraft that could literally 'Jump' and touch the skies. Of all the attempts the world's aircraft designers tried to make a Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) capable fixed wing aircraft, the British Harrier was the most successful as it actually entered service in significant numbers rather than being a temperamental one off or only a handful made research aircraft. The Harrier was the most successful VTOL fighter that showed the way when it was first introduced during the 1960's. Even today's American Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter isn't fully VTOL capable, and is considered more of an Short Take-Off and Vertical Landing (STOVL) aircraft.
