The Vought SB2U Vindicator is an American carrier-based dive bomber developed for the United States Navy in the 1930s, the first monoplane in this role. Vindicators still remained in service at the time of the Battle of Midway, but by 1943, all had been withdrawn to training units. It was known as the Chesapeake in Royal Navy service.

Oldest airworthy Catalina flies again. After seven years of restoration work by American Aero Services, New Smyrna Beach (FL) Consolidated-Vultee PBY-5A Catalina N459CF (c/n 300) took to the air again on 7 July 2026. For many of our readers (especially the Dutch) this amphibian, once US Navy BuNo 2459, is an old acquaintance as she used to fly in the Netherlands as PH-PBY.
