In late 1945 1 P-51 Mustang was modified to receive 2 Ford PJ-31 pulsejets. These were basically American versions of the German V-1 engines that would lead to the missile Republic-Ford JB-2 Loon. It didn't work, when not in use they were dead weight and on piston alone performance was poor.
