Boeing C-73 (USAAF designation for Model 247 airliner) in the USAAF. Considered by many to be the first modern airliner, it was quickly overshadowed by the designs of the Douglas company, especially the DC-2 and DC-3. 27 Boeing 247D airliners were impressed into service with the USAAF in WWII.
