Lockheed P38 Lightening.

There is not a great deal known about this aircraft's wartime service, other than the real plane belonged to the 20th Fighter Group in Clyde, Scotland, before travelling to Kings Cliffe in Nothamponshife, which was its base for thr rest on the war.The group flew 312 missions before the last mission in April 1945. The airframe was recovered in Austin, Texas, in 1987, before being brought to Duxford.The stripped airframe was shipped to Chino CA. in 1987. In 1992 was registered as N3145X January 1992, and took its first flight a short time after.It was flown back to England, where it was operaated by the Fighter Collection,Duxford.

Sadly the aircraft was destroyed in an airshow accident 1996.
