The Arado 232 was a Luftwaffe transport aircraft that featured several (then) revolutionary design features. A large, level load floor, rear cargo door and a series of smaller ancillary wheels for rough field landings being the most obvious. Less than 20 saw operational service.

U.S. Navy Boeing-Vertol UH-46D Sea Knight on the fantail of the ammunition ship USS Suribachi (AE-21). The helicopter experienced a mechanical faliure during an ammunition offload from the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower off Virginia (USA), in September 1992. Only one crewman was injured.

A Fairy Swordfish floatplane taxies past two famous ships which were lost early in WW2. The destroyer HMS GLOWWORM was lost to the Admiral Hipper 8 Apr 40 while the battlecruiser HMS HOOD was lost to the Bismarck and Prinz Eugen 24 May 41.

An aircraft museum in north Cumbria has added a Cold War-era submarine-hunter to its collection. The Fairey Gannet arrived at the Solway Aviation Museum near Carlisle where it will be going on permanent display.

Britain confirms plans to purchase 74 F-35B jets. The head of the Royal Air Force has confirmed plans to purchase 74 F-35B jets adding that it is "possible" the UK may eventually have a fleet of 138 F-35s.

  • Bartini-Beriev-VVA-14. Only 2 ever made.The aircraft's first flight was held on 4 September 1972. At that time, the prototype would not yet be equipped with a pontoon for water landing. The addition of the pontoon allowed the VVA-14 to land in the sea. In addition, aircraft can efficiently hover along the surface of the water. The VVA-14 has two turbojet engines in addition to 12 turbofan engines. The aircraft logged a total of 103 flight hours over 107 times before the project was canceled following Bartini's death.
